Simple Beginnings

This is a comprehensive 8-week class designed for both new and self-taught knitters looking for systematic step by step learning as a foundation for advanced techniques such as traditional lace, Aran, Fair Isle and adventurous multi-technique knitting. Watch your skills grow as you create a stitch sampler cushion cover that includes lace, cables and textured stitch patterns worked from a graph.
Mondays 7-9pm Dates: January 12, 19, 26, + February 2, 9,16 & 23 + March 2 2009.
Fee: $125. Includes practice yarn and 1 set of knitting needles.
Additional Course Materials: 3 skeins of Berroco Ultra Alpaca in a lighter colour to make Stitch Sampler Pillow

Whether this project will involve your first knit stitch or an opportunity to gain experience & confidence, our Knitting Project Classes are offered with skilled teachers on-hand to assist you with every step of creating a great knitted project. Whether you will be mentored through all stages of a knitting project including yarn and pattern choices, sizing and gauge. For projects involving seaming and finishing details, your project teacher will recommend the finishing skills class and then will assist you in applying these skills to your project.
Simple Beginnings: Saturdays 10:30 - 12:30pm beginning Oct. 4th
Fee: $45 / month
Additional Materials depending on choice of project.
Margaret Dellarosa leads students through this excellent 3-part class covering all aspects of the finishing of knitted garments and accessories, including: * Joining seams with Mattress Stitch on Stocking Stitch, Reverse Stocking Stitch, Garter and Seed Stitch. * Picking up edge stitches on both straight and curved edges. * Short-Row Shaping of Shoulders. * 3-Needle Cast Off. * Adding new yarns. * Tying in yarn ends. * Cutting into knit fabric to lengthen or shorten a garment.
Wednesday 7-9pm. Dates: January 28, + February 4 & 11 2009. Fee: $45 for 3 classes
Please Note: Students must prepare homework for the 1st class.
HOMEWORK: Using light coloured worsted weight yarn, work four squares in stocking stitch: Cast on 30 stitches Knit in stocking stitch to form a square. Cast off. Do not block or press.
Bring 2 pairs of 4.5mm needles & a blunt tip darning needle
on 4 Double Point Needles
Tuesday 7-9pm Dates: January 20, 27 & February 3. Fee: $65 for 3 Classes. Basic sock pattern included.
Additional Course Materials:
100 grams or Minimum 400m of 3 Ply Sock Yarn in a light colour. 1 set of size 2.5mm or 2.75mm Double Point Knitting Needles.
Join Sandra Tripone as she guides you through the construction of a Crochet Project. Sandra will advise you on every aspect of a new crochet project from yarn and pattern choices to finishing techniques, including blocking and crochet joining methods.
Saturday Dates: February 7,14, 21 &28 Fee: $45 / month plus project materials purchased at Village Yarns.
Gloria Williams will show students the simple construction of Gloves worked in the round on Double Pointed Needles with a ribbed cuff and traditional shaped thumb.
Tuesday 7-9pm. Dates: February 17, 24 & March 3. Fee: $65 for 3 classes.

Village Yarns offers four monthly Knitting Project Classes with skilled teachers on-hand to assist you with every step of creating a great knitted project. From beginner, Simple Beginnings through Monday & Thursday night projects for graduates of Stitches from the Start, to experienced knitters, All About You Project, for graduates of the 9 week class by the same name, you will be mentored through all stages of a knitting project including yarn and pattern choices, sizing and gauge. For projects involving seaming and finishing details, the project teacher will guide you in applying the skills learned in the Finishing class to all aspects of your garment construction and finishing.
Knitting Project Classes on Monday & Thursday evenings are open to graduates of our Stitches From The Start basic knitting course. The All About You Project Class is for graduates of the 9-week class by the same name.
Monday Project Class: Mondays 7-9pm. All About You Project Class: Tuesdays 7-9pm. Thursday Project Class: Thursdays 7-9pm. Simple Beginnings: Saturdays 10:30 - 12:30pm.
Fee: $45 / month or $125.00 for 3 months.
Private Knitting Classes Village Yarns offers private knitting or crochet lessons for customers seeking one-on-one instruction. Perfect for persons with a busy schedule.
