From early high
school, Village Yarns formed the background of Julia's life,
each of her yarnshop
"Moms", making a contribution to her knitting style.
Julia has a remarkable
understanding of the knit stitch: like a shepherd,
she tracks a
lost stitch through rows of lace and returns it to the fold.
On a car trip,
years before our yarn shop, Julia adopted a baggie of assorted
autumn coloured
"orphans" from a loonie bin and knit by the light of the
glove box. Although
she didn't know the names, she'd included both fairisle
and intarsia
in her colourwork swatch.
When inspiration,
materials, observation and time come together....anything
can happen! It
is inpired learning time like this, that Julia trys to reproduce
for her new students
In her quiet, patient and gentle way.
In the summer
of 2000, as part of her George Brown College program, Julia
completed her
internship in England with Rowan.
Rowan
#29 (Summer of 2001) featured Julia's design called Puppy Luv.
